VMworld 2009 Schedule Builder FAQs
Sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to those that pre-registered. If you haven't pre-registered, you can do so by accessing the Schedule Builder tool. Onsite at the Moscone Center, you will be able to access Schedule Builder online at any email station or via the VMworld2009 wireless network.
How do I access the Schedule Builder?
To access Schedule Builder, you must be registered for a full conference pass or for the Technology Exchange Developer Day. Go to www.vmworld.com/schedulebuilder-login!input.jspa and sign in with your VMworld credentials. Upon logging in you will be taken to the Session Catalog. You may add sessions to your schedule from this page by clicking on the plus sign. To view and schedule sessions by day, access the Session Schedule by Day page and click on the session ID.
Another option for scheduling is the My Schedule page which allows you to add sessions to specific blocks of time, export your sessions to iCal or csv, add personal time, and print your schedule.
I'm registered for Technology Exchange Developer Day in addition to VMworld 2009. How do I find my developer day sessions?
On the session catalog page, you can search specifically for these sessions by clicking the Session Type drop down and selecting Technology Exchange Developer Day. Also, on the Session Schedule by Day page, you can view all sessions by session type. This allows you to compare all sessions taking place at each timeslot.
I hear there is a VMware vSphere 4 boot camp session on Sunday. How do I register for that?
The boot camp was an invitation-only session, due to the limited number of available seats. This session was offered to recent webinar attendees who expressed interest in upgrading to vSphere 4. At this time, all seats are full, but if seats become available, they will be filled from the waitlist.
I've been put on a waitlist for one of my sessions. What does that mean?
Once a session is fully subscribed in Schedule Builder, we do allow additional people to be waitlisted. Waitlisted sessions show up in your schedule as grey and say "Wait List". If another attendee who has booked a seat in the session decides to delete it from his/her schedule, then that seat automatically is offered to the first person on the waitlist.
Waitlists in Schedule Builder will be cleared one week prior to the event. That is, if you have not been notified that a seat has opened up, then you should plan to enroll in another class for that time slot. On-site, you can try to gain entry into a "full" session, by queuing at the door in the "Unregistered" line. Five minutes before the start of each session, any available seats will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
Can I waitlist more than one lab during the same time frame?
No.
Do I have to register for all my sessions, or just the labs?
To guarantee a seat in your preferred sessions, you MUST register using Schedule Builder. If you don't register, then you will have to take your chances that sessions will not be full on-site. You can register for up to 2 Instructor-led labs. These labs always fill up, so we strongly encourage you to register for them ASAP. Self-paced labs are offered on a drop in basis, so it is not necessary to schedule them in advance.
What if I arrive late for a session that I registered for?
It is important that you arrive at your sessions at least 5 minutes before their scheduled start time. 5 minutes before the session starts, session scanners will begin to allow unregistered attendees to fill any available seat until the room capacity is reached. If you arrive after the room is full, you will not be allowed access, even though you may have registered for the session.
How do I add a session using Schedule Builder?
To access Schedule Builder, you must be registered for the conference. Go to www.vmworld.com/schedulebuilder-login!input.jspa and sign in with your VMworld credentials. Upon logging in you will be taken to the Session Catalog. You may add sessions to your schedule from this page by clicking on the plus sign.

Most of the sessions and labs I want are already full. What can I do?
Many of the most popular sessions will be repeated. Look for signage onsite at the information desks that lists the daily schedule for repeated sessions. In addition, all sessions will be available to any registered attendee at www.vmworld.com/community/sessions/ following the conference.
I'm a registered as a partner and want to find the partner-only sessions. How do I see these?
Partner Track content is geared toward the needs of our Channel Partners, including Corporate Resellers, Distributors, OEMs, Service Providers, System Builders, and System Integrators. Technology Alliance Partners are encouraged to look at Technology Exchange Developer Day sessions (you must purchase this as a separate package to schedule these sessions). The easiest way to see what sessions are available to you, is to go to the "My Schedule" page in Schedule Builder. When you click on a time block, you will see a pop-up of all the sessions you can schedule at that time.
