I know it's only now March, but is anyone else getting excited about VMworld? This will be my 3rd yr. I have met so many amazing folks there - Steve Herrod, Duncan Epping, Frank Denneman, Tom Howarth, Jason Boche just to name a few.

I love SF and hope to do a couple extra things this yr I didn't get a chance to do in '10 - go to Sausalito, as well as do a 'fun run' over Golden Gate. If you have not had the opportunity to take a ferry ride around the Bay to Golden Gate and Alcatraz, I recommend doing so. It's awesome! Also, a 20 or so minute bus ride west all the way to the beach is recommended (well, not 'all' the way...there will be about another 10-12min walk). There is this neat restaurant there along the 'mile-long beach' (I think that's the actual name of the beach). Really cool atmosphere.

So, some of those things, meeting up with old friends, meeting new ones, "tweeting up", networking, sessions, & labs...yep, I'm ready for a great VMworld2012! Hope to see some of you there!

-Shane
twitter: @coolsport00

I attended VMWorld a few times in San Francisco for the last few years and also Las Vegas last year. I for sure enjoyed the one in Las Vegas more. I'm plainning to attend this year again but just looking at the hotels...Ouch!!! The price for the hotels this year go up significantly.

The Conference will be (more than likely) held at the SF Convention Center. To be honest, it was too small a venue a couple years ago, IMO. Needs to be held at a larger venue.

I actually really enjoyed it. It was more "niched" than TechEd, which seems to be so scattered. I think part of the reason why I loved EMCWorld so much was because of where it was at - Boston. LOVE that town! I don't recall it solely being about EMC per sè but it may have been. I just recall it being about storage in general, backup in general, and virtualization. I think EMCWorld is a worthwhile trip, but the fact that it's in Vegas this yr is a turn off for me.

Regards,
Shane

And at least aim to get paid for the time i'm there. The wife is putting our old stuff on ebay towards VMworld. Less junk around the house AND i get to go to VMworld (and have best wife!).
