Session:

The Complete Clustering How-To with VMware Infrastructure and Microsoft Cluster Server

Presenter:

Jume B.V.

In the session, we'll explain all about using VMware Infrastructure and Microsoft Cluster Services to get higher levels of uptime. We'll explain the different clustering types (clustering in a box, across boxes and between physical and virtual) and how to set this up step-by-step. This will include showing the difference between RDMs in virtual mode and physical mode, bus-sharing (none, virtual, physical), node numbers (0:0, 1:0) to get a second path to shared storage, what hot fixes need to be used (VMware&Microsoft), and some brief troubleshooting. We'll also explain active-passive and active-active clustering.

Finally, we'll explain the differences between VMware HA and MSCS along with recommendations and caveats for using the products to complement each other.
