How Denver Health is Using VMware and LeftHand Networks Multi-Site SAN for Simple, Cost Effective Disaster Recovery

Presenter:

Denver Health & Hospital, LeftHand Networks, VMware

At Denver Health, we manage an IT infrastructure that supports over 100 departments across the DH Medical Center, Managed Care and Denver Health Medical Plan. Denver Health's Technical Services Group is tasked with not only looking for ways to improve reliability and availability of our critical healthcare information system, but how we can reduce associated IT infrastructure costs. Our marriage of VMware Infrastructure 3 with LeftHand Networks Open iSCSI SAN has enabled Denver Health to meet our critical data availability and DR needs as well as realize significant cost savings in both infrastructure and management. With VMware HA and the LeftHand Network RAID technology, we are able to automatically failover and failback VM's between two data centers in different buildings on the campus to deliver uninterrupted IT services in the event one of the data centers suffers loss of servers, storage or both. Come hear about how this is implemented along with our experiences and results.
