Session: Going Green - IBM's Comprehensive Approach to an Energy Efficient Data Center
Presenter: IBM

IBM is using its expertise and energy-smart technology innovations to provide a five-step approach for businesses that is designed to dramatically improve energy efficiency:

    • VIRTUALIZE: Virtualize IT infrastructures
    • MANAGE&MEASURE: Seize control with energy management software
    • COOL: Exploit innovative cooling solutions
The saving potential is substantial. For an average 25,000 square foot data center, businesses should be able to achieve 42% energy savings. Based on the energy mix in the US, this savings equates to over 7000 tons of carbon emissions saved per year.
IBM manages the world's largest commercial data center and has leveraged this holistic approach to reduce its carbon footprint by more than 40% over the past 15 years. Now, IBM is committing to substantial growth without increased energy consumption. Learn how in this session.
  • DIAGNOSE: Evaluate and assess existing facilities
