Session:

USMC Enterprise Virtualization Strategy and Planning - Change Within and Across

Presenter:

USMC, VMware

The United States Marine Corp (USMC) is virtualizing the enterprise. This is a "core-out" initiative, supported by concurrent, site-level virtualization activities that will enable people, develop processes, and deploy technologies key to mission accomplishment within the USMC/DOD Net-Centric Warfare context. Critical to success for this initiative is an OS vendor-agnostic, platform-level virtualization environment. Supporting this OS agnostic requirement, the USMC is maturing a strategic partnership with VMware. This partnership is enabling the development, deployment, and employment of deliberate, repeatable processes designed to meet the enterprise goals of 80% virtualization within 3 years and 98% virtualization within 5 years. The USMC anticipates long-term relationships and a seven to ten year lifecycle for this initiative.
