Virtual Datacenter Automation with VMware

Virtualization creates unprecedented opportunities for automation in the datacenter because virtual machines are software files and therefore can be more easily manipulated than physical infrastructure. Automating critical IT processes in the virtual datacenter will create tremendous value through increased responsiveness, improved efficiency, reduced risk, and stricter compliance with IT and regulatory policy. Melinda Wilken is senior director of marketing for VMware's management and automation solutions. She joined VMware, Inc. in 2006 with the acquisition of Akimbi Systems, where she was vice president of marketing. Prior to Akimbi, Melinda held marketing leadership roles for high technology companies including Informix Software, Brio Technology (acquired by Hyperion), Actional Corporation (acquired by Progress), and Rightworks (acquired by i2).
