Session Abstract: | Configuration Management is the practice of managing ongoing updates and changes to the IT environment and ensuring the infrastructure is configured in accordance with operational, security, and best practice standards and goals. Virtualized environments introduce new considerations for configuration management and also provides some new capabilities for managing configuration updates and control. In this session, we will discuss what some of the key configuration management needs and challenges are in a growing and a dynamic virtual environment. We will also review both current and future product capabilities VMware is working on for managing configuration changes as well as preview some new technologies and tools that are VMware is working on in this area. |

Speaker 1: | Monica Sharma is a Sr. Product Manager in the Virtual Infrastructure Management Group at VMware focused on software update and configuration management. Before joining VMware, Monica was a Product Manager and Director of Engineering at Solidcore, working in the areas of change control and management. Prior to Solidcore, Monica had product management and engineering responsibilities at Ensim, creating one of the first virtual hosting platforms. Monica is ITIL foundation certified and holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. |
Speaker 2: | Erik Wrobel is Director of Product Management at VMware where he is responsible for defining the product strategy for the Virtual Infrastructure Management products. Prior to joining VMware in 2006, Erik held product management and engineering positions at BMC Software and Remedy where he worked on configuration and IT service management products. Erik has an MBA in International Management, is a Certified Enterprise Architect, and is ITIL foundation and practitioner certified. |
