Session Abstract: | This presentation is based on John Arrasjid's VMworld 2008 super session. It will include lessons learned from his work designing SRM solutions for customers. Participants will be provided with guidance on the assessment phase and how to translate requirements into a workflow for SRM. The session will include information on network and storage considerations, application priorities and sequencing in the workflow, workflows with and without SRM, and preparation of both the protected and recovery site. The session will close with a case study from an early SRM based DR engagement |

Speaker 1: | Will Crittenden is a Senior Member of the Professional Services Organization as a Consulting Architect with a primary focus in the BCDR areas. He is currently serving as a Worldwide Deputy of the BCDR Practice within VMware, Inc. and has focused recently on development of design work around VMware Site Recovery Manager. Prior to VMware, Will was a principle architect at EMC where he specialized in BuRA solutions. Will is currently leading delivery of disaster recovery engagements utilizing Site Recovery Manager. |
Speaker 2: | John Y. Arrasjid has over 20 years of experience in the Computer Science field. His experience includes work with companies such as AT&T, Amdahl, 3Dfx Interactive, Kubota Graphics, Roxio and his own company, WebNexus Communications, where he developed consulting practices and built a cross platform IT team. John is currently a senior member of the VMware Professional Services Organization as a Consulting Architect. He is the Worldwide Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Lead focused on the development of BC/DR and Security solutions. John has developed a number of service offerings focused on Performance Management, Security, and Disaster Recovery and Backup. John earned his Computer Science degree at SUNY Buffalo. John is a member of Elastic Sky and The Hypervisors bands at VMware, Inc. and enjoys blacksmithing as a hobby. |
