Implementing Data Protection for Applications and Data in VMware Deployments

Session Abstract:

In this session attendees will learn about pros and cons of various data protection methods appropriate for VMware environments. We will discuss pros and cons of streaming backup, storage-device based snapshots and VMFS based snapshots including VCB-enabled backups. We will also share a preview of a new backup and recovery solution currently in development based on the VCB architecture.
Examples of implementation will be discussed as well as guidelines for selecting the most appropriate backup method. We will also discuss the scenario of backing up Exchange using VCB-enabled backups.

Speaker 1:

Hari Krishnan is currently a sr. product manager at VMware, Inc. His professional background includes over 10 years of varied experience in product management, product marketing and technology development. Previous roles include product manager at F5 Networks as well as co-founder of ISPsoft, Inc. Hari holds a MS in Computer Science from UCLA.

Speaker 2:

Christian Czezatke has been with VMware R&D for over four years, working on backup solutions for ESX. Before joining VMware he has worked for various Bay Area startup companies developing data storage solutions.
