Session Abstract:

This session provides details for deploying Microsoft clustering for enterprise applications such as Exchange and SQL Server in the VMware Infrastructure environment. We will provide the best practices for setting up such an environment, as well as point out the configuration issues to watch out for. We will list the common pitfalls and gotchas when deploying these environments. We will also provide a check list of items to consider for VI3 before you start such a deployment.

Speaker 1:

Venu leads the Microsoft platform solutions effort at VMware, responsible for defining IT deployment/operations best practices and solutions for deploying Microsoft server applications on VI. He is also responsible for the Microsoft engagement and relationship efforts at VMware.

Speaker 2:

Charles Windom is a Microsoft Solution Architect for VMware. As a consultant, he has designed, implemented and provided support on Microsoft infrastructure and applications to small, medium, and enterprise companies. His focus has been best practices for design and implementation of systems with Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) and SQL Server. Before joining VMware, Charles worked for such companies as Digital Equipment, Compaq, HP, Siebel, Taos Mountain, Hitachi Data Systems and Brocade designing and implementing Enterprise solutions. Charles earned his BS in Computer Science. He is ITIL certified and is a Windows Server 2003 MCSE.

Speaker 3:

Hemant Gaidhani is a Technical Marketing Manager at VMware, Inc., focusing on performance and benchmarking. He has over 15 years of experience in software development and performance engineering. At VMware, Inc. he is responsible for evangelizing the performance of VMware, Inc. products, executing performance benchmarks, managing the benchmarking approval process, generating performance & benchmarking collateral, and educating field partners and customers on performance and sizing of VMware, Inc. products.
