Session Abstract:

LandAmerica deployed VMware more than five years ago, and more recently desired to increase returns on its IT investments and improve efficiencies with the existing systems within its virtualized environment. In addition, the company was spending millions of dollars on a tape-based backup and archiving system that also didn't provide the level of information security the company needed. LandAmerica made the decision to use NetApp for storage and has never looked back, join Jack as LandAmerica shares their journey while Jay elucidates upon the theme with Disaster Recovery.

Speaker 1:

Jack Kinsey is the Network Systems Manager for LandAmerica Financial Group. With more than 15 years of experience in the Information Technology, nearly 10 of them with LandAmerica, he's been actively involved in projects from Active Directory to Z/OS. Currently his team of 18 engineers is responsible for most of the foundation technologies deployed within LandAmerica including VMWare, Centralized Storage including SAN and NAS, Active Directory, and Citrix.
His successful and diverse assignments over the years include creation of a custom Infrastructure chargeback solution, a nationwide videoconferencing system, and acquisition and deployment of the organization's first Storage Area Network.
Jack currently resides in Richmond, VA with his wife and two daughters.

Speaker 2:

Jay Kidd is the Chief Marketing Officer at NetApp. In that role, Kidd is responsible for all corporate marketing, including branding, press and analyst relations, and demand generation, as well as solution marketing, including product and service marketing, alliances, and field readiness.
Kidd has extensive experience in storage, networking, and high-performance systems. Before joining NetApp, he held the position of chief technology officer and vice president of Product Management at Brocade, where he was vital to developing and implementing the Brocade product roadmap, including infrastructure and strategic evangelism.
Before joining Brocade, Kidd was vice president of Marketing for Omneon Video Networks, Inc., a supplier of storage and networking equipment for video broadcasters, and Multigen, a real-time 3D simulation software company.
Prior to working at Multigen, Kidd spent seven years at Silicon Graphics (SGI), where he directed marketing efforts for the graphics workstations, servers, and SGI Web systems business. He also worked at Hewlett Packard, where he held key engineering and marketing management positions in the Information Networks group.
Kidd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.
