Session Title:

The Datacenter of the Future -- It's Already Here!

Session Abstract:

Data centers that support continuously available services floating across pools of servers and storage, provided with just the resources they need and automated recovery from any faults and disasters aren't just a daydream — that capability is here today with VMware Infrastructure. In this session we'll use a real VI3 environment consisting of four servers hosting 120 VMs to show you how the power of virtual infrastructure services like VMotion, DRS and Distributed Power Management can handle dynamically added server capacity, take servers offline for maintenance with no VM downtime, and power off servers during off-peak times to save energy costs. We'll monitor VMmark performance scores for the entire server pool throughout the demo to show how your data center capacity is immediately increased by simply adding ESX servers. Everything is done with commonly available x86 servers, storage, and off-the-shelf operating systems and applications. You'll see how you can deploy the agile data center of the future right now using the power of VMware Infrastructure.
