Session Title: | Helping the Bottom Line - One Company's Virtualization Initiative Makes a Major Impact |
Session Abstract: | BMC Software had been using a variety of virtualization technologies to help manage its infrastructure for years. Rising costs of doing business, increased focus on green-IT, industry adoption of the technologies, tool maturity and a pursuit of efficiency were some of the reasons BMC launched an internal virtualization initiative in 2007. Entering into an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) with VMWare, BMC launched a focused effort to move the bulk of its software development and operational infrastructure from physical servers to virtualized environments. Virtualization coupled with integrated business service management tools have resulted in bottom line savings in the millions and the productivity increases are orders of great magnitude. |
