How VMware Virtualizes its Own IT Environment from the Desktop to the Datacenter

At VMware we are implementing our vision of transforming computing with the help of our own products and services. In this session you will learn from our experts and their real-world experiences virtualizing desktops and mission-critical applications such as Exchange, SQL Server and Oracle. You will also learn about the design of a new, green datacenter from the ground up. Although we rely on our own professional services and use many best practices, we have our challenges and will share them as well. We are making great progress towards our goal of virtualizing all our applications to reduce costs, improve availability and streamline operations.

Drew Kramer( VMware,Inc. ), Tayloe Stansbury( VMware, Inc. )

Tayloe Stansbury leads VMware's worldwide information systems infrastructure & real estate, with a focus on showcasing VMware's technologies. Tayloe has more than 25 years of experience in the software industry, most recently as Executive Vice President of Ariba, where he led engineering, product management, hosting, IT,
and customer support. Previously, Tayloe held executive engineering and general management roles at Calico Commerce and Xerox. Before that, he worked on developer tools at Borland and Sun, and did research in computational linguistics at Xerox PARC. Tayloe graduated with honors in math and computer science from Harvard University.

Drew Kramer leads the Technical Operations organization at VMware which is responsible for providing support services, infrastructure management, and operational expertise for VMware's R&D Software Engineering organization. Drew has over 20 years experience in IT and has been at VMware over 5 years overseeing much of the infrastructure growth. Previously, he was a founding member of a startup focused on management software for high-density server environments. Prior to that, Drew managed the infrastructure team for Digital/Compaq's Research
division.
