Session Title:

Delivering the True Cost of Ownership for a VMware Ifrastructure

Session Abstract:

Many times customers make the mistake of determining that the cost of a VMware Infrastructure is the cost of the VMware License (possibly factoring in server procurement cost). What customers do not take into account is the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the solution. First of all, to truly determine the cost, one needs to calculate as a cost per virtual machine. Also, one needs to take a holistic approach to determining the TCO of the system. This includes determining costs for hardware (servers, network and SAN switches and ports, storage, environmental (heating, cooling, datacenter), and operating (system administrator, other soft) expenditures). When you determine the true cost of ownership, you can easily see how a VMware Infrastructure is the only choice.
This discussion will demonstrate real world customer examples detailing how to determine the true cost of ownership in small, medium, and enterprise environments comparing VMware solutions to other alternatives.
