Lessons from the Cloud: How Application Clouds Are Evolving to Meet New End User, Administrator and Datacenter Trends
|The evolution of cloud computing and virtualization is dramatically changing the way that applications are delivered to end users. This transformation is impacting not only the end user but also the administrator and the datacenter. User and administrator expectations for when and how services are delivered have changed as a result of companies like Salesforce.com, Workday, SuccessFactors, WebEx and Google. Today’s end user expects multi-device access, offline support of the cloud, broad browser-based access to applications and increased application integration. Administrators require improved openness, a more complete software stack and the ability to provide tiers of service. For the datacenter, applications must be portable, based on open standards and the TCO must be competitive with public cloud providers. During this session, John Robb, Sr. Director of Products at Zimbra, a VMware division, will discuss VMware’s vision for the new service delivery model and what to expect now and in the future. He will provide an overall framework to help you ensure that you have the right roadmap in place to meet the current and future needs of your end users, administrators and the datacenter. Additionally, you’ll learn how the Zimbra cloud solutions will help you meet the requirements of this new service delivery model.|
